The university has organized a campaign for staff and students to use bicycles and walkways. It’s a way of getting around campus. There are bicycle ways in the main street. The road is a place to relax and exercise. The bicycle ways have roofs and no cover. Bicycles are parked in various classroom buildings and recreational areas. The road is a shortcut to connect student dormitories and student affair services buildings where can ride bicycles to classroom buildings. The campus also provides central bicycles for staff and students to borrow for free.
Suranaree University of Technology has collected 372 kg/yr of electronic waste and sent them for disposal at a licensed waste management company authorized by the Department of Industrial Works once a year. Hazardous waste bins are provided for various buildings by type of wastes appropriately
2. Management of chemical waste from laboratories
The University gave consideration about management of the wastes from laboratories for the classes offered. The wastes are produced from the classes and research activities. A safety manual has been prepared for use in laboratories and with the chemicals. Part of the manual consists of the practice guidance for handling wastes in the laboratories so that it is carried out properly and safely. There is a system for separating wastes into 14 types. Labels are used to differentiate the type of waste. There are collection containers to store the wastes before they are sent to Licensed waste management company authorized by the Department of Industrial Works for further disposal or recycling process 3 times a year.
– Air conditioners with energy saving label 5 from the certification of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand.
– Air conditioners not exceeding 27,297 Btu/hr must have a value indicating energy efficiency (EER) not less than 11.6.
– Air conditioners 27,296 – 40,946 Btu/hr must have a value indicating energy efficiency (EER) not less than 11.0.

The design of the buildings within the university emphasizes the requirement of natural ventilation and external lighting for every building.
The office Division of Buildings and Grounds is an environmentally friendly building design. Based on Thailand’s Green Building Standards (Thai’s Rating of Energy and Environmental Sustainability, TREES)
The 10 specified and accredited Building Design (new buildings) for Energy Conservation from the Ministry of Energy are given bellow
Basic Laboratory Building for Science and Agricultural Technology
Basic Engineering Laboratory Building

The Integrated Solid Waste Sorting Plant is a place for managing organic and inorganic wastes for Suranaree University of Technology. This plant uses Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) technology or composting method. The waste processing process for turning waste into organic compost and Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) includes a waste segregation system using conveyor belt, grinder machine, MBT system and sieve machine for separating organic compost and plastics for the waste processing process. The by-product of these processes are organic compost and RDF.
On the World Environment Day, 5 June 2018, SUT declared the policy to reduce the use of plastics in all area under the “SUT Say No Plastic” campaign. There are 6 measures under implementation with the stores operating within SUT campus including,
Not providing single use plastic bags from convenient stores except for hot items.
Stop selling drinking water that uses cap seals.
Stop automatically giving single use spoons-forks-knives-straws and seasoning/sauces with purchase but have them available for the consumers to pick up if required.
Not using Styrofoam and single use clear plastic food containers (use only bagasse and paper based products).
Reduce the use of straws that is packaged in plastic and if necessary use straws with paper packaging instead.
Provide incentives including price reduction if consumers bring their own glass/ cups/mugs and food containers.
In this project used plastic bottles are melted and made into asphalt pavement sheets. This is to reduce the use of fresh asphalt by using plastics as substituting material. The mechanical properties of this material has been enhanced so that it has good load baring properties and can be applied to various types of work as follows.
